Melt ("the App", "we", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle data when you use the App, particularly the microphone permission used for voice input.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Microphone Audio (Voice Input)

When you tap the microphone button, the App accesses your device microphone to capture speech audio. This audio is streamed in real time to Google's Speech Recognition service (Android's built-in SpeechRecognizer API) for transcription.

The App does not record, save, or store any audio files. Audio is processed ephemerally — it exists only in transit between your device microphone and Google's speech recognition servers. Once a transcription result is returned, the audio stream is discarded.

1.2 Transcription Text

The text transcript returned by Google's speech recognition is used solely to pre-fill the goal/task input field so you can create a goal or task by voice. The transcript text is treated the same as any text you type manually. It is stored only if you explicitly submit it as a goal or task.

1.3 Goals, Tasks, and Profile Data

Goals, tasks, and profile preferences you create are stored locally on your device using Android's Room database. This data is never transmitted to our servers (the App does not operate backend servers for user data).

1.4 AI Processing

When you submit a goal, the goal text is sent to an AI language model provider (configurable via the App's governance settings) for task decomposition. The AI provider receives only the goal text and your profile preferences — no microphone audio or personal identifiers. 2. How We Use Your Information

• Voice-to-text transcription — to convert your spoken words into text for goal and task creation.
• AI task decomposition — to break down your goals into actionable steps.
• Local persistence — to save your goals, tasks, and preferences on your device.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond the core functionality described above.

3. Data Sharing and Third Parties

3.1 Google Speech Recognition

Voice audio is processed by Google's speech recognition service, which is part of the Android operating system. Google's handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. The App does not have access to raw audio after it is sent to Google.

3.2 AI Language Model Provider

Goal text and profile preferences are sent to the configured AI provider (e.g., OpenRouter) for task decomposition. The provider receives only the text you submit — no audio, device identifiers, or personal information.

3.3 No Sale of Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data with any third party.

4. Data Retention and Storage

• Audio: Not stored. Processed ephemerally in transit.
• Transcription text: Stored only if you submit it as a goal/task. Otherwise discarded when you navigate away.
• Goals, tasks, and profile: Stored locally on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App.

5. Your Controls

• Microphone permission: You can grant or revoke the RECORD_AUDIO permission at any time via Android Settings → Apps → Melt → Permissions. The App functions fully without this permission — only voice input is affected.
• Data deletion: You can delete individual goals, tasks, or reset all app data from the Settings screen within the App. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.

6. Children's Privacy

Melt is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected at this URL and the effective date will be updated accordingly.
